Woman petitions against OC Transpo plans to reduce service at Lees Station

An Ottawa woman is petitioning OC Transpo to rethink its plan to have many routes bypass Lees Station this winter as part of O-Train Confederation Line construction.

Starting December 20, the Transitway will be shut down between Lees and Hurdman stations, leaving only Routes 16 and 85 linking Lees Station to downtown.

Lees Station will also be served by Routes 6 and 101, eastbound 91 and 95, and 98 southbound and a new route 103, but only on the upper level.

Dozens of OC Transpo express routes have new numbers

OC Transpo fares are set to change in the new year, but commuters heading back to work today after the Christmas break may be noticing another difference: the number of their express bus.

Almost 40 express routes not only have new numbers, but a new name, too. They will now be known as "Connexion" routes, because when the Confederation Line opens in 2018, these routes will connect to an LRT station instead of taking passengers directly downtown.

More OC Transpo route numbers changing this weekend

More OC Transpo bus routes will see their numbers change this month as the city prepares for the unveiling of light rail sometime next year.

Fifteen route numbers in the south and east ends of the city will change on Sunday, however the routes themselves will remain the same.

        The affected routes are:
        • Route 1 will be renumbered as Frequent Route 6.
        • Route 41 will be renumbered as Connexion Route 291.
        • Routes 121, 123, 124, 126, and 128 will be renumbered as Local Routes 42, 23, 24, 26, and 28, respectively.
        • Routes 144, 146, 147, 148, and 149 will be renumbered as Local Routes 93, 92, 197, 48, and 49, respectively.
        • Routes 192, 193, and 194 will be renumbered as Local Routes 47, 31, and 21, respectively.
